Thank You Cleveland

This week marks one year since Ohio’s governor forced the indefinite closure of our restaurants.  We went from a record-setting first quarter to zero revenues overnight.  As we approached our 30th successful year in business, we had no idea if our company would even survive. As life-long entrepreneurs, we were accustomed to challenges, but nothing like uncertainty and downright despair we encountered in March 2020.

Nearly 400 staff members were counting on us for their livelihoods, and we were suddenly unable to provide them any answers, other than to promise that their hospitalization benefits would not lapse, even if it meant funding them out of pocket. Although the impact of the year’s events was unprecedented, we refused to give up. It was a time to dig deep, roll up our sleeves, re-imagine our company, and trust in one another to make it to the other side of this crisis.

Thanks to our staff’s belief in us, we persevered. Our executive team worked tirelessly to support our staff members through each and every obstacle we were faced with, giving them the opportunity to return to work safely and succeed in delivering the hospitality that is our company’s namesake.

Thank you to our loyal patrons, who selflessly donated over $50,000 to our Employee Relief Fund.  You supported our restaurants in every way possible as time went by.  Our hearts were warmed by your care. We are fortunate and thankful to have the generous clientele who stood by our side through thick and thin.

Lastly, thanks to trusted business relationships, we had the support of purveyors, landlords and lenders who had our backs at every turn. You were there when we needed you most.

One year later, we have the pleasure of saying, “We survived”.   We have been fortunate enough to come back stronger than ever before and are grateful to focus on the opportunities this year has in store for our restaurants.  From the bottom of our hearts...  Thank You Cleveland!
