Why Buy Local? Why Dine Local?
There are numerous benefits associated with buying local produce and dining at locally owned restaurants. We strive to purchase locally grown produce whenever available. It reduces “Food Miles” – the distance the food travels which improves the freshness and quality as well as minimizing negative impact on the environment. The nutritional advantages are obvious, but the economic impact of supporting Ohio farmers is often overlooked. Doing so greatly increases the ability to increase the workforce in our state.
At the most basic level, when you buy local more money stays in the community. Studies show that twice the amount of money stayed in the community when folks dined at locally owned restaurants as opposed to national chains. Hospitality Restaurants started in 1991 with a few dozen staff members. We now employ a workforce of nearly 500 – and are driven to invest in building a stronger local economy for Northeast Ohio.
