Meet: Francisco “Chico” Alvarado

The man behind the Blue Point Grille oysters.

Hospitality Restaurants is proud to introduce Francisco “Chico” Alvarado, famed “oyster-shucker” at Blue Point Grille for nearly two decades.

Chico began his career at Blue Point in 2005 and to date has personally shucked over 2 million oysters, serving diners from all over the world. If you have had an oyster at Blue Point, chances are Chico shucked it.

Chico was born in El Salvador and immigrated to the United States in pursuit of citizenship. Every day, Chico arrives to work with his patented smile and “whatever it takes” mentality. Not only is he dedicated to his culinary craft, Chico’s commitment to his family and El Salvadorian community is admirable and truly respected by all who know him.

Chico’s storied success in life and work is a testament to hard work, passion, and the pursuit of dreams. His journey beginning as a young man in El Salvador to becoming a Cleveland restaurant industry icon is one for the story books. Hospitality Restaurants is proud and honored to call Chico a valued member of our family.

For 32 years, Hospitality Restaurants has been the proud employer of the most talented and dedicated people throughout Northeast Ohio. HR has been acknowledged by The Cleveland Plain Dealer as a Top Workplace in its industry since 2014. The passion and dedication of our employees is the true heart and soul of our restaurants.

On behalf of everyone in the Hospitality Restaurants family, “Thank you, Chico!”
