Top Workplace Award

In 2013, the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com began a recognition award to signify the most outstanding workplaces in Northeast Ohio.  The examination of companies, large and small, is done through confidential polling of its employees.  We are very proud to be the only restaurant company to have received the coveted Top Workplace Award every year since.  This recognition serves as a testament to an unwavering commitment to principals and ideals and the loyal staff members who continue to believe in our company culture.

Our company began in 1991 with an ardent commitment to create a culture that valued work/life balance for each and every one of our staff members.  Decades of combined experience in the hospitality industry had taught us that the “normal work week” in the restaurant business was simply not serving a sustainable environment to build a lifestyle conducive to raising a family.  As entrepreneurs, putting in six or seven-day work weeks were commonplace, building the foundation for our new company, but that grind simply wasn’t an acceptable lifestyle for those who chose to earn a living with us.   We knew that to retain great employees over the long haul, new hires would be attracted to a manageable work schedule, with a standard of a five-day work week and benefits that were competitive with other job choices.  Our culture needed to be based upon competitive wages, an atmosphere of service leadership and a commitment to promote from within.

As we reflect on our company’s 30-year anniversary, Hospitality Restaurants is most proud that the commitment to those original principals has never wavered.  The resulting culture has produced low turnover, upward mobility and successful long-term careers for many.
